There is something to be said about taking a retail business and giving it a therapeutic feng shui. In the Polo store in NYC the clothes are sharply placed in antiques. What a difference to look at a sweater placed in a Chippendale secretary cabinet instead of just thrown on a table. Somehow just walking around the store one feels cleaner, clearer, and classy. Maybe I'll buy that cashmere sweater to match this good feeling I have. When strolling thru the Fresh Market food store (kind of like Dean & Delucas) one's spirits are immediately uplifted.^pSmaller inventory, tighter spaces, and the who's who of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, it's an ambience of an art gallery and the Smithsonian of gourmet food. It's hard not to want to take some of it home.
