Truth, because of its rawness can sometimes be as savage as a "perfect storm." In the movie "A Few Good Men" Colonel Nathan Jessep (Jack Nicholson) reminded Lt. Daniel Caffee (Tom Cruise) of this. Jessep said, "You can't handle the truth" and "You don't want the truth…because deep down inside in places you don't talk about at parties…" Left unprotected, truth can be like the ginshu knife. We desperately need the truth (don't want the plane pilot having to rely on a sextant) but need our heart lifted up by it, not torched. I think the healthy ratio is this; to the degree of truth reveled, there must an equal degree of compassion and graciousness in delivery.
